Tuesday, December 21, late evening

When Dennis returned from his business dinner, he found Martin in the master bedroom leaning back on pillows in crimson silk sleeves and swathed in matching sheets under a white goose-down comforter. The ghost-blue Warner Bros. logo for The Dark Knight was frozen on the ceiling-mounted widescreen TV above him. It provided the only light in the room, and it gave Martin the ethereal appearance of having been painted by a post-modernist.

"Oh," Dennis said softly as he entered the bedroom.

"What?"

Martin breathed in deeply after he spoke, stirring from half-sleep. As he pushed up into a sitting position, the sheets fell to his navel to expose his chiseled torso undulating with each slow breath he took. Dennis admired Martin's smooth skin, which he knew from experience was as delicious to touch as to taste.

"You're incredibly—" Dennis sighed. "You're beautiful. Did you know that?"

Martin's shy smile was barely visible. He whispered, "How was dinner? Close the deal?"

"Yeah," Dennis said. He kicked off his shoes, shrugged out of his jacket, and began to undress, happy to leave polite society behind for the rest of the evening. He loosened his tie and unbuttoned his shirt but kept it on as he removed his belt and pants. Wearing only dark dress socks, plain white boxers, and his button-down with tie, he stepped to the bed. Martin slipped his arms from under the sheets and held them out to Dennis, who put one knee on the edge of the bed and slumped into Martin's muscular arms.

"God," Dennis said, exhaling heavily.

"Tired?"

"Yeah. Going to dinner may sound like a pleasant thing to do, but when multi-million dollar deals are on the table …" Dennis yawned and cuddled closer to Martin.

"Still up for The Dark Knight?"

Dennis looked up into Martin's face. He smiled lazily. "Yeah, I guess." Pause. "As long as it's with you."

"Get rid of your shirt."

Martin tugged at one end of Dennis's tie as he sat up, slipped off his shirt, then stuck his hands under the covers to remove his socks. He balled them and pitched them in the direction of the bathroom. Martin looped the tie under Dennis's arms and around his chest, drawing him close again. Dennis giggled.

"Tickles," he said as they settled in to snuggle in front of a movie.
